This weekend, I held my first solo show in two years - too long by all accounts. Sometimes it's easy to worry that we are over-offering to our clients and therefore shy away or offer all sorts of different ways to show our wares - this weekend I was persuaded that simple is best.
On Friday night there were over 100 people that came to the opening of my Solo Show, here in my studio, The Art Retreat in Woodbridge, Suffolk. Over 100? I was and still am absolutely chuffed to bits.
Being so long since my last one, I had much new work to exhibit. I have my own personal work, my recent paintings of Suffolk and new drypoint prints of animals - plus of course, all my dog paintings, half of which I dedicated my studio to. (You can view these on my www.samanthabarnes.com website)
I am so glad I did, the hang seemed to hit the spot. I was a little concerned that I wouldn't have enough woofer paintings - the reason being that once they are finished they leave the studio for their forever home. I needn't have worried though, some of my clients leant me their paintings and the work looked rather lovely, even if i do say so myself!
It's Sunday now, about 4.40pm and I close at 5pm. Off for a big lie down! Tomorrow I have a session booked with my business coach to go through the nitty gritty - all of which will be good.
Thank you so much to everyone that came and to those that supported me via social media too.
I won't be leaving it so long next time.
Best wishes, Samantha
